We've received a lot of interested enquiries about Benz Tornado Cleanze.
In this post we address these questions and more, but first some examples of Tornado Cleanze usage:
Removing black lichen staining (black spot)
Cleaning concrete paths and patios
Cleaning an area where spray drift onto plants would be a serious issue and must be reduced to a minimum or eliminated entirely
Cleaning concrete window frames and sills
Cleaning wall capping stones
Q: Is the benefit of using Tornado Cleanze as a post-biocide cleaning agent just that it’s a gel that's stickier than Benz LIghtning Cleanze biocide and so reduces, even eliminates, run-off and the risk of spray drift?
A: It's true that Tornado Cleanze is stickier and reduces, or eliminates, run-off and spray drift. It utilises a powerful process to remove residual stains caused by organic growths.
The chemical formulations of the two products, including the type of surfactant, are quite different and are designed for different purposes. Tornado Cleanze, for example, is a cleaning agent that we carefully formulated to not require a scent.
Q: What would be the best way to apply Tornado Cleanze to render at a height? And would it be best to treat the render with Lightning Cleanze first?
A: Biocidal treatment with Lightning Cleanze, ideally followed by a post-treatment of Benz Bio Cleanze, is the default method of treating most renders.
Tornado Cleanze comes into its own as a spot cleaning product that effectively removes any remaining staining following a Lightning Cleanze biocide treatment (and ideally before treating with Bio Cleanze).
Tornado Cleanze can be applied at height by using a brush or roller attached to a pole – the same method painters use to paint buildings. It may be necessary to work from scaffolding or a cherry picker to reach the highest parts of a building.
Q: Can Tornado Cleanze be applied through a WFP pole?
A: Yes, by diluting 1L Tornado Cleanze with 300-500ml water.
In the majority of cases however, treating first with Lightning Cleanze at 5:1, or exceptionally 4:1, will be the optimal approach. The biocide will kill the growths responsible for the staining; then use Tornado Cleanze as a topical cleaning agent to deal with any remaining stains.
Q: Can Tornado Cleanze be followed by a treatment of Benz Bio Cleanze?
A: Yes, as long as Tornado Cleanze is thoroughly rinsed before treating the surface with Bio Cleanze.
Q: Would I be right in thinking that Tornado Cleanze is best to use on horizontal surfaces and lower vertical surfaces, and that high level vertical surfaces are best treated with Lightning Cleanze?
A: Not exactly. Both products, and Bio Cleanze, can be used on all horizontal and vertical surfaces. Which combination of products to use depends on:

It's a free resource for people wanting to learn about the soft washing industry, to expand an existing business, or build a new business.
Soft washing reduces, or even eliminates, the need to use high-pressure washing.
Instead, once the build up of algae, lichen, fungus and mould – the root causes of properties looking "dirty" – has been treated, the natural "self-cleansing" of sun, rain and wind removes the surface residue through time.
By educating the cleaning trade and public about soft washing we are helping develop an industry that offers sustainable treatments to clean and maintain exterior hard surfaces.
