We've been asked: "How long would you advise that humans and animals are kept away from a treated area after a soft washing, so they will be safe from ingesting softwash chemicals?"

Our written response: "We advise that customers, members of the public, children and animals are kept away from soft washed surfaces until they are dry (Benz Bio Cleanze biocide) or have been thoroughly rinsed (Benz Lightning Cleanze biocide) and declared safe.

This is the safest option and ensures protection for everyone.

Cordon off the entire soft washing site and erect barriers to entry until the job is complete and you are certain the area is safe.

Ask your customers to keep their children and pets indoors, or at another location, for the duration of treatment so they are out of harm’s way.

And of course, do remember to mop up any spillages of softwash chemicals before leaving the site.

Quick tip: If you are using a softwash injector system we've found it a good idea to place the drum of undiluted chemical in a small plastic box (aka a "bund"). This will contain any leaks or spillages that can occur, especially when removing the injector pipe.

If you are applying Lightning Cleanze, ensure the working area is thoroughly rinsed before leaving the site.

If you are applying Bio Cleanze this usually should not be rinsed from treated surfaces (and exception is sand & cement render) but allowed to dry. It will be safe for humans and animals when dry. And if children and/or animals are likely to walk on the surface, treat at a maximum dilution of 50:1.
